Personal Nursing Philosophy
Nursing, to me, is both a science and a calling. It is grounded in knowledge, research, and critical thinking, yet guided by compassion, humility, and the recognition of human dignity. I believe every patient is more than their diagnosis; they are a whole person with unique stories, values, and needs. My role as a nurse is to honor that wholeness while providing safe, evidence-based, and person-centered care.

I view nursing leadership through the lens of servant leadership, placing the needs of others first, empowering colleagues, and creating an environment where patients and teams can flourish. Informed by the Benedictine values of respect for persons, community, and hospitality, I strive to foster trust, inclusion, and a culture of collaboration in every setting.

Technology and informatics have become central to modern healthcare, and I see them as tools to enhance, not replace, the human connection at the heart of nursing. My philosophy embraces innovation as a means to improve safety, efficiency, and outcomes, while never losing sight of the patient’s voice.

Ultimately, I believe nursing is about balance: balancing science with compassion, leadership with humility, and progress with tradition. My commitment is to continue growing as a professional who advocates for patients, mentors future nurses, and contributes to systems that improve the health of communities. Nursing is not just what I do - it is who I am, and I carry that responsibility with integrity, empathy, and a lifelong dedication to service.
